A memorial service will be held to honor the life of Anita Louise Guidroz born on May 29th, 1961. Service will be held on Saturday, September 24th from 3-5pm at First Baptist Church of Port Barre. Pastor Benji Richard will officiate the services. Anita of Opelousas, passed away on September 9th 2022 at Opelousas General hospital at the age of 61. She was preceded in death by her parents: John Allen Guidroz, Sr. and wife Josephine Silva Guidroz; two sisters: Donna Marie Thibodeaux and Rose Guidroz Thibodeaux Eidissen; and two brother-in-law's John Vickman Thibodeaux and Aubrey Thibodeaux all of Port Barre. Anita, being very proud of her Mexican / Cajun heritage, referred to herself as a "Mexa-coon". She enjoyed cooking for loved ones and never made a dish that wasn't top notch and that you would always find yourself going back for seconds! She loved spending time outdoors. Whether it be camping, hunting, fishing with her boys or just spending time with her grandchildren that she loved so much. She was the very best "Gammaw" and gave everything she had to her grand babies. With many siblings, she was a very special Aunt to a multitude of nieces and nephews and will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her! Survivors include her two sons; Michael Chad Guidroz and wife Shantel of Morgan City and Blake Lavergne and wife Ashley of Port Barre. Sisters: Carolyn Soileau and husband Moe of Port Barre and Debra Guidroz of Arnaudville. Brothers: John Allen Guidroz, Jr. and wife Janice of Leonville; Richard Guidroz and wife Rhonda of Natchitoches and Marcel Guidroz and wife Traci of Lake Charles. Survivors also include her very special grandchildren: Lexleigh Carlock; Ashlyn Guidroz; Riley Dubois; Kayden Guidroz; Easton Lavergne; Ellah Guidroz and Ember Lavergne. And a host of nieces and nephews. The family is requesting that donations be made in lieu of flowers to help defer the cost final expenses. Donations can be made on the day of service.
