Bennie Ernest Ramsey

Bennie Ernest Ramsey passed away peacefully on June 30, 2026.

Born and raised in Danville, Illinois, Bennie was a lifelong musician whose greatest passion was playing the drums. Music was more than a hobby—it was a part of who he was. Whether performing with others or simply sitting behind a drum kit, he found joy and purpose through every beat.

Outside of music, Bennie enjoyed spending time with his friends, sharing stories, smoking cigars, and making lasting memories. Above all, he treasured his family. He was a devoted father and a proud grandfather who found his greatest happiness in watching his children and grandchildren grow. He was especially excited about the arrival of another grandchild in the months ahead.

Bennie is survived by his loving daughter, Kyra Ramsey; his son, Kyle Ramsey and wife, Lindsey; his former spouse, Rachel Ramsey; and his cherished grandchildren, Kynlee Ramsey, and Grayson Ramsey. He was also eagerly anticipating the birth of another grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bennie Balbach, and Patricia Ramsey.

Bennie will be remembered for his love of music, his generous spirit, his laughter among friends, and the deep love he had for his family. His rhythm may have fallen silent, but the memories he created and the love he shared will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who knew him.
