Cassie Erin Felder

Baton Rouge - Cassie Erin Felder, precious daughter, sister, and friend to everyone she met, died Wednesday, January 17, 2024. Cassie was a bright light who could put a smile on anyone’s face. She was an amazingly talented joke teller, whose smile and laugh was infectious. Cassie loved deeply, and her loyalty to her friends and family was unparalleled. Cassie was born in Marion, South Carolina, and was raised in Hammond where she attended Southwood Academy for elementary and middle school and then Hammond High School. She earned her bachelor’s degree in philosophy from the University of New Orleans, her law degree from Tulane Law School, and her LLM in taxation from Boston University. Cassie practiced tax and business law in Baton Rouge for many years, and was very active in the community. Cassie participated in the Baton Rouge Bar Foundation Pro Bono Project, Thirst for Justice, and provided regular pro bono representation to members of the community in need. She was appointed to the Baton Rouge Mayor’s Bule Ribbon Commission on Transit and continued to serve on the Steering Committee for the Baton Rouge Transit Coalition, the Small Business Advisory Council for Louisiana Economic Development , the Louisiana Small Business and Entrepreneurship Council, the Baton Rouge Opera Guild, and too many other such community-oriented associations to list. She was one of Baton Rouge Business Report’s Forty Under Forty in 2013 and the word chosen to represent her was loyalty. Cassie is survived by her parents, Wayne and Pat Felder of Baton Rouge, her brother and sister-in-law, Brad and Julie Felder of Lafayette, her niece, Koren Felder, and a myriad of family and dear friends. A Celebration of Cassie’s Life will be held at the Country Club of Louisiana from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2024.
