Cecil Robert Theaux

January 24, 1949 — May 28, 2025

Broussard - Cecil Robert Theaux, a proud U.S. Army veteran and dedicated public servant, passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at the age of 76. Born and raised in Lafayette, Louisiana, Cecil was the son of John Leo Theaux, Sr. and Georgie Vignes Theaux. He served his country with honor in the Vietnam War as a member of the U.S. Army. After returning home, he continued serving his community for many years as a volunteer firefighter and also gave his time to the local Boy Scouts, helping to guide and mentor young people in his community. Cecil deeply cherished his family and held a special bond with his brothers and sisters. Their love, laughter, and loyalty were cornerstones of his life, and he remained devoted to them throughout the years. He had a deep appreciation for the beauty of the world around him. Whether behind a camera or beneath the open sky, Cecil found peace in nature and joy in capturing its moments through photography. His love for the outdoors reflected the quiet strength and thoughtful eye he carried through life. He is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, John Leo “Boo” Theaux, Jr., George Theaux, Sr., and James “Jimmy” Theaux; and his sisters, Barbara “Bobby” Clark, Emily Simon, and Mildred “Millie” Cates. He is survived by his children: Jason, Kathryn, and Johnathan; his former wife, Francine Elizabeth Krieg; his devoted partner of over 30 years, Teresa Haywood; his grandchildren: Victoria, Justin, Jade, and Matt and his great grandchildren; Elizabeth, Laikynn, Allison and Camille. Cecil will be remembered for his unwavering generosity—always willing to give the shirt off his back and ready to help anyone in need. He lived his life putting others first, with a steady heart, a quiet sense of humor, and a deep love for the people and world around him. In accordance with his wishes, Cecil will be cremated. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 31, in the chapel of Colligan Crematory and Funeral Services in Broussard. Where family and friends are invited to celebrate his life and honor his service
