Marksville, LA — A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at Saint Winifred Chapel, located at 2644 LA-107, Effie, LA 71331. The service will feature a reading by Brandi Guidroz, and Rev. Albi Mulloth, JCL, will officiate the Funeral Mass. Inurnment will follow at the cemetery on the grounds. Charles, a native of Alexandria and resident of Marksville, was a distinguished U.S. Air Force veteran, having served in Formosa (Taiwan). He began his career as a school teacher and coach before transitioning to self-employment in sales, where he found great satisfaction. Charles had a deep passion for sports, including tennis, football, basketball, softball, and track. He also enjoyed fishing and was instrumental in founding the first women’s softball team in Alexandria, known as the Alexandria Angels. Charles was known for his words of wisdom and encouragement, inspiring others to better themselves and maintain their faith in the Lord. He is survived by his sister, Mary Gayle Lofton; his children, Charles Rousseau Jr., Rhonda Benjamin, Belinda Guidroz, Thomas Rousseau and Terri Landry (fiancée), Gabrielle Loden (Patrick), and Tonya Deiter (Steve). He also leaves behind 20 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, and numerous other family members. Charles was preceded in death by his father, Lanie Rousseau; mother, Margaret LaCroix; and brother, Freddie Rousseau. He was also preceded by his first wife, Diane Bernard, and his second wife, Nellie Whitstine Rousseau. A reception will follow in the hall.
