Colby James Copell April 4, 1982 – July 9, 2023 Colby James Copell, 41, of New Iberia, Louisiana passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family and friends on Sunday, July 9th 2023 at 8:14am at the Our Lady of Lourdes Heart Hospital. “Co” as he was known was born on April 4th, 1982 to his loving parents Marc Copell and Rita Watterson Pellerin. He is survived by the light of his life, his only son, Koah Laytin Copell; his loving step-father Joey Pellerin and step-mother Tania Bienvenu; his longtime partner, Michelle Poirrier and her daughters; Abbi and Addi Lajaunie, his three sisters; Amy Copell Kinsey, Katelyn Copell Romero and husband Derrick Romero, Kirstie Lynn Theriot; his aunts and source of tremendous support throughout his life, Sonya Copell Depue and Nanny Mo & Aunt Deana, Kassy Dugan and her two daughters; Londyn Boudreaux and Oliviah Legnon as well as many other nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins that he devoted his time and love to while playing countless pranks and jokes. Colby will be remembered by his sense of humor, for his love for the outdoors, his towering height of 6’4” and his infectious smile. He was a hard worker and a master of creativity. His hobbies included riding horses and ATV’s, mechanical projects, camping and watching his son play all of the sports he was involved in, particularly, Koah’s love of baseball. He had a passion and love for Jesus. Serving others is what truly made him happiest. A celebration of life will be held at Our Savior’s Church (New Iberia Campus) on Monday, July 17th 2023 at 11:00 am.
