Lafayette - Cory Wade Mothershed, age 35, of Pensacola, Florida, passed away peacefully at his residence on January 30, 2025. Cory was a devoted husband, father, son, and friend. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, and throughout his life, he embodied dedication, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to those he loved. Cory's family was the center of his world. He cherished the time spent with his wife and best friend, Shantel Reaux, and their children, Knox, Warren and Bleighn Reaux. His love for his family was matched only by his affection for his loyal pups—Bella, Lilly and Chloe, his service dog-who brought him much joy and companionship. An avid golfer and gun collector, Cory enjoyed many weekends spent on the course and shopping trips with his dad, creating memories that would last a lifetime. He was known for his attention to detail, whether it was in the meticulous care of his yard or the pride he took in his truck, which was always in pristine condition. Cory is survived by his loving wife, Shantel; children, Knox, Warren and Bleighn; parents, David and Diane Mothershed; siblings, Brandon and Ryan Mothershed, Danny and Billy Fish, Gordon Gipson, Brian Reaux and Heather Allen and husband Wade; mother-in-law, Cindy Triche; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Guidry, brother-in-law Jacob Theriot and his wife Delores; as well as a host of other family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Blain P. Reaux, brother-in-law Blain P. Reaux Jr. and his loving grandparents John and Shirley Simpson and W.B. Mothershed and Julie McCall. A funeral service to honor Cory’s life will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at the Gospel Light Baptist Church. Cory’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, and he will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
