Darville "Joe" Jolivette

December 23, 1956 — November 1, 2025

Lafayette - Darville Jude Jolivette, was a native of Lafayette, LA, born December 23, 1956. He passed away Saturday, November 1, 2025, at the age 68 surrounded by family. He was also known as “Joe” because people in the military couldn’t pronounce his last name. He attended Immaculate Heart of Mary and a graduate of Northside High School. He enlisted into the Army in April of 1974. He was only seventeen at the time and his parents had to sign off for him to enlist, as he was adamant about beginning his military career in the Army. He received several commendations during his career including Marksman with a M-16 rifle, the National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and the Overseas Service Ribbon. Darville also engaged in Top Secret military missions. He was especially proud of his accomplishments with the Pershing Missile Crisis. He retired from the military Army branch in March of 1985 having risen to the rank of E-7 Staff Sargent. Once Darville returned home after gallantly serving his country, he began a career with the Lafayette City Marshall's office, after completing the Acadiana Law Enforcement Academy in1987. He began serving and protecting his city as Peace Officer Jolivette until his full retirement in 2009. If you knew Darville, you knew family was important and came first. His immediate family and his circle of friends-family was rivaled by sharing his love for fishing, boating, cooking, and eating; a real sportsman paradise! He took great pride in winning his cook-offs, especially with the Grilling Dillions. If you were invited to “come eat!” then you made it into the family. He worked hard and played even harder. He had a great love for luxury toys, he had a high-end classic little red corvette, a red X-5 top speed Nitro bass boat, and 1989 Softail custom fifty-seven chevy yellow Harley-Davidson, to name a few toys. Darville Jude Jolivette, leaves behind his three children: Triniti Jolivette (Chris), Joseph Shane Jolivette and Dustin Jolivette Babb (Demi), three grandchildren; Ronald Williams, Jr., Treyante Leblanc (Devon) and Dani Joli Babb; three great-grandchildren; Aaliyah Williams, Zhaki Williams, and Greyson Williams; one Goddaughter, Brianne Isaac; Two sisters, Parnella (Allan) Seally and Lovenia Jolivette.
