David Richard Doig

Youngsville- David “Dave” Richard Doig was born in Los Angeles, California to Corinne A. and Albert J. Doig on November 20, 1941. In 1946, the family moved to Riverside, California where his father opened Albert J. Doig & Associates Insurance Agency. Dave attended school in Riverside. In 1958, during the summer between his Junior and Senior year in High School, Dave went to work in his father’s office part-time and during school vacations. Upon graduation from Riverside City College in 1961 he began working full-time with his father. Dave was drafted into the Army on June 27, 1967. He spent one year in Vietnam and was honorably discharged on June 26, 1969. Upon release from the Army Dave joined another insurance firm and, when that firm sold, he moved to Bakersfield, California to join John Pryor at Kern Insurance Associates (KIA). Later he formed David R. Doig Insurance Associates, Inc. and affiliated with KIA to obtain insurance policies for and provide service to his clients. Dave married Joyce Rippstein on November 20, 1965. They divorced after 14 years of marriage, but they remained lifelong friends. In July of 2023, Dave moved to Youngsville, Louisiana to be closer to his best friend of 40 years and motorcycle buddy, Steve Annis (Nancy) and Steve’s daughter Julie Annis-LaBauve (David). Steve and Julie took care of Dave until his passing on January 6, 2025. Steve and Julie would like to thank Avanti Senior Living in Broussard, A Care Partner, and HOPE Hospice of Lafayette for their love and support. Private interment will be held at a later time at the Bakersfield National Cemetery.
