Baton Rouge - David Edmond Marquette, 76, died the evening of Thursday, June 6, 2024. Dave, as he was known to most, was originally born in New York City. He grew up in Houma, LA with his adoptive parents and sister where he attended St. Francis de Sales Catholic School. Dave graduated from Louisiana State University where he was a member of the Lamba Chi Fraternity. He attended Southern University Law School and was a respected practicing attorney in Baton Rouge and surrounding parishes for over 35 years. Dave had a love of animals, especially horses, and all things nature, often describing his farm in St. Francisville as “paradise”. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed fly-fishing with his son Robert and hiking in The Rockies. Dave was an Ancient Athlete, a music lover and a dedicated LSU fan. Dave will be fondly remembered by his family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He is survived by his daughter Alexandra Marquette Whitfield and husband Hunter, and son Robert Edmond Marquette; grandsons Mills Edmond Whitfield and Gaius “Whit” Whitfield VII. Also survived by stepdaughters Brandi Marie Herndon and Kristen Rachel Stewart; nephew Theodore Broomes and nieces Coleen Willis and Cynthia Bean. He is predeceased by his parents Edmond Richard Theodore Marquette and Elvira Athalie Brassard Marquette, and sister Kathleen Athalie Marquette.
