Debra Ann Morreaux Landry

Debra Ann Morreaux Landry died on Friday, October 16, 2026, at the age 72 in New Iberia, Louisiana, surrounded by loved ones who will honor her legacy by living life to the fullest. She served as a librarian with the New Iberia Parish Library System for over 30 years, primarily on the book mobile. An avid reader, she loved the arts and rock music—the louder, the better. Generous to a fault, she always helped those less fortunate and used her humor to make others laugh and feel loved and welcomed.

Born and raised in New Iberia, Louisiana, Debra was the daughter of the late Rene Joseph Moreaux and Wilda Theresa Derouen. Her only marriage, to Albert C. Landry, Jr., ended in divorce in December 1999. They had one child, Melanie Quillens, with whom Debra lived for the past 9 years.

Cherishing her memory are her daughter, Melanie Quillens, and Melanie’s partner, Michael LeBlanc; her four siblings, Joseph Ozenne Moreaux and his partner, Lori Dugas; Wanda Moreaux Dore’ and her husband, Neil Michael Dore’; James “Daigo” Moreaux and his wife, Colleen Kibodeaux Moreaux; and Mary Moreaux; and her nieces and nephews, Misti Moreaux of Atlanta, Georgia, Heather Moreaux of New Iberia, Louisiana, Riggins Alton Dore’ of Youngsville, Louisiana, and Brock Moreaux of South Carolina. She also loved and cherished Cye Monet, who died in September 2012, and Nicole Michelle Walker Richard, who currently lives in Erath, Louisiana, as her own children.

A private ceremony will be held in the Chapel at Holy Family Cemetery, New Iberia, Louisiana on 10/27 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., with the burial to follow.
