With heavy hearts and cherished memories, we celebrate the life of Delta Don Helaire who was born on November 4, 1977, in Lafayette, Louisiana, to the late Alfred Alexander and Dorothy Helaire Alexander. Affectionately known as “Flex”, he was truly the life of every gathering. Whether it was his unforgettable smile, his calm and easy-going personality, or the signature walk that seemed more like a smooth glide than a stride, Delata had a way of making everyone around him feel welcome. He possessed a natural charisma that could light up any room, and his laughter and spirit were contagious. Born and raised in Lafayette, Delta attended Northside High School, where he became known for bringing joy wherever he went. Friends and classmates remember him as the fun-loving, cool, and laid-back person who could always make people smile. He embraced life with enthusiasm, loved it to the fullest, and created countless memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those who know and loved him. Above all, Delta treasured his family. His greatest legacy lives on through his beloved children, Delta Alexander Jr, Javien Celestan, and DeNashia Alexander, who will carry his love and spirit with them. He also leaves to cherish his memory his devoted companion for many years, Della Broussard; his sisters, Denise Helaire Mouton, Dawn Alexander, Pat Alexander, and Linda Mills; his brother Jonathan Alexander and brother in law Bobby Mouton; along with a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were forever enriched by knowing him. Delta was welcomed into eternal rest by those who preceded him in death: his loving parents, Dorothy Helaire and Alfred Alexander Sr., his sister Donna Ethridge; his brothers, Sherman Alexander, Donald Alexander, Alex Alexander, Alfred Alexander Jr.; and his cherished daughter Mariah Helaire. Though our hearts are saddened by his passing, we find comfort in knowing that Delta’s warmth, humor, kindness, and unforgettable spirit will continue to live on through the countless lives he touches. His legacy is one of love, laughter, resilience, and family. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten. “Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure. You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.
