Denny Wayne Trahan

Denny Wayne Trahan, age 66, passed away on January 19, 2026, at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Ville Platte, after a courageous battle with cancer. In his younger years, Denny enjoyed hunting and fishing. Above all else, he cherished time spent with his family. Known for his outstanding wit, Denny had a special way of bringing laughter and cheer to any family gathering. He especially loved being a grandfather and treasured every moment with his granddaughter, Harper, who brought light and joy to his life. She will always remember him as the best “Pappy” in the world.Denny is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Tammy W. Trahan; his son, Caleb Trahan of Grand Prairie; his daughter, Laney David, and son-in-law, Quinn David, of Grand Prairie; and his granddaughter, Harper David. He is also survived by his siblings, Glenda Wallett of Leonville, Ellen Trahan and brother-in-law Frank Broussard of Lafayette, and Tammie Griffith of Madisonville, along with many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, Lanny and Julia Trahan; his brother, Byron Arceneaux; his brother-in-law, Rick Griffith; and his nephew, Brett Wallett.

Memorial Service: Brother Anthony Polotzola will be officiating the service.

The memorial service will take place at First United Pentecostal Church of Opelousas, 1437 Judson Walsh Drive, Opelousas, LA 70570. Visitation will be from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m., followed by the memorial service at 10:00 a.m.

The family would like to thank Dr. Bryan Bienvenu and the medical staff at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center of Opelousas, as well as the staff at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Ville Platte, for their compassionate care. His caregiver and wife Tammy Trahan for her unwavering support and his daughter and son-in-law Quinn and Laney David for their assistance in his journey towards the end of life.
