Eddie "Bo" Bergeron

Lafayette - Eddie "Bo" Bergeron, age 66, passed away peacefully at his residence on July 29, 2025. A native of Houma, Louisiana, Bo was known for his unwavering work ethic, his larger-than-life personality, and his love of dancing through life—literally and figuratively. Bo spent over 30 years working as a deckhand on tugboats, where his meticulous attention to detail and dedication to cleanliness earned him the respect and admiration of countless captains and crewmates. He took pride in doing things the right way, and you could always count on him to show up ready to work—rain or shine. Off the water, Bo lived life to the fullest. Whether it was going out dancing or sharing stories over a cold drink, he embraced every moment with energy and joy. He was affectionately known as the “Jitterbug King” for his smooth moves and infectious spirit on the dance floor. Bo had a big heart and was known to give his last dollar to someone if he liked them—but if you crossed him, he didn’t hesitate to cut ties for good. He was a man of strong convictions and an even stronger will. Bo is survived by his brothers, Ronnie Bergeron and wife Samantha, and Andrew Bergeron III; stepbrothers, Wayne Billiot and Rodney Paul Billiot; and sisters, Debbie Hatcher and husband Bryant, Christine Bergeron, Donna Bergeron, and Priscilla Bergeron. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Bergeron Jr. and Marguerit A. Billiot, and his brothers, Michael Bergeron and Kenny Bergeron. Bo will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those who were lucky enough to share a dance, a laugh, or a memory with him. His legacy lives on in the stories told and the lives touched by his spirit. A celebration of Bo’s life will be planned at a later date.
