Lafayette - Frances Oldenburg Comeaux, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and retired educator, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2025, at her residence in Lafayette, surrounded by her loving family. She was 84 years old. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Frances spent her life devoted to her family, her faith, and her passion for teaching. After a fulfilling career as a school teacher, specializing in Math and Science, she continued her commitment to education by tutoring children up until her passing. Her dedication to helping others was a testament to her caring and giving nature. Frances shared a loving marriage of 52 years with her husband, Paul Comeaux, she was his pride and joy. She also cherished her time spent with her two sons, George Comeaux (and wife Monique) and Shep Comeaux (and wife Rachel), as well as her two beloved grandchildren: Clelie Seneca, and Gabrielle "Gabby." Comeaux. Her faith played a central role in her life. Active in St. Pius Church, Frances served as the leader of both the Marriage Encounter and prayer groups. Her commitment to her faith and her community was steadfast, and she will be remembered for the deep love and support she shared with others. Frances was preceded in death by her parents, George and Frances Oldenburg. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and inspiration to all who knew her. A Memorial Service and visitation will be held in the chapel of Colligan Crematory and Funeral Services in Broussard on February 28, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Rosary will be said at 1:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, March 7, 2025 at St. Pius Catholic Church in Lafayette. at 10:00AM. with inurnment to follow. Frances will be dearly missed, but her memory and the impact she had on those around her will live on in the hearts of her family and all who were fortunate to know her.
