Franklin Patrick Mclaughlin

Franklin Patrick McLaughlin (Paco), 45, passed away Monday, May 15 in Tomball, TX. Paco was born April 20, 1978 in Bay City, TX to Patrick and Marsha McLaughlin. He moved to Lafayette, LA at age 10, where he excelled in sports and life. He was a 1996 graduate of Lafayette High School where he was a valued member of the Mighty Lions baseball team. He attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (ULL), where he was president of Sigma Nu fraternity, making some of his lifelong friends his brothers for life. He graduated from ULL with a degree in Petroleum Engineering in 2002. Paco married Krystal Dupuis in 2001 and had 3 beautiful children: Madison, Patrick, and Caroline, who he adored and made him so proud. He worked in the oilfield his entire career; trailblazing with his quick, out-of-the-box thinking, irresistible charm, and stellar work ethic. He practiced many faiths throughout his life; always learning, searching for understanding. He was earnest. Paco was an avid volunteer, working with organizations such as Love, Inc., Houston Food Bank, and as a companion volunteer with hospice. He always looked for ways to give back. He created the first Refuge Recovery group in Lafayette, and was very involved in the recovery community for many years. Paco is survived by his children: Madison Page, Patrick Joseph, and Caroline Elizabeth McLaughlin; his parents, Patrick and Marsha McLaughlin; one brother, William Earnest McLaughlin; one sister, Kimberly Ann (McLaughlin) Chapman; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Frank and Anona McLaughlin; and his maternal grandparents, William and Sue Moler. A viewing and service will be held at Asbury United Methodist Church in Lafayette, LA, Friday, May 26th. Viewing is from 2pm-5:30pm. Service is 6pm-7pm. Pallbearers are Jake Wright, Stuart LeBlanc, Steve Foss, Jonathan Landreth, Teddy Beaullieu, and Jason Robicheaux. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Love, Inc. in Lafayette.
