New Iberia - Gaylord Michael Musemeche, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and esteemed member of his community, passed away on November 2, 2024, at the New Iberia Medical Center at the age of 75. His death marks the end of a remarkable life dedicated to service, family, and a passion for the things he loved. Born in 1949, Gaylord was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, having served with honor and commitment. After his military service, he devoted over 47 years to law enforcement, where he earned respect as a hardworking and trusted officer. Gaylord’s legacy as a public servant is one of integrity, duty, and compassion. A true enthusiast of life’s pursuits, Gaylord was an avid competitive gun shooter and a passionate collector, with a keen eye for detail and a deep appreciation for the history behind every piece. His love for motorcycles was well known—he spent countless hours building, racing, riding, and selling bikes, bringing his expertise and creativity to each project he undertook. His zest for adventure, whether on two wheels or in competition, was a hallmark of his character. Gaylord is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Mary Gary Musemeche; his sons, Clint and Terrence Musemeche; his brother, Victor Musemeche; and his cherished grandchildren, Adam and Vincent Musemeche. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Marie Musemeche. In his passing, Gaylord leaves behind a family who will carry his memory forward with pride, gratitude, and love. He was a man who gave much to those around him, whether through his service to his country, his community, or the deep affection he showed his loved ones.
