We are saddened to share that our father, Gerard Joseph "Jug" Primeaux, 73, passed away on December 6, 2025, at his home in Cade, Louisiana. He passed peacefully during the night, with his best friend, Johnny Waguespack, by his side. He was born in Lyons Point, Louisiana on March 6, 1952, to Ophey Primeaux and Mary Lou Primeaux, and was raised in the nearby town of Crowley, Louisiana. Jug was a lifelong comedian and storyteller. He lit up every room he walked into and always knew how to make others laugh. He affectionately earned the nickname "Jug Butt" while playing football for Notre Dame High School in Crowley, Louisiana. Most of his career was spent as a door-to-door salesman for various companies-most notably Rainbow Vacuums. He was extremely proud ofplacing #1 in the world for sales with Thermax and #3 in the world for sales with Rainbow. Jug never failed to support his favorite teams, LSU and the Saints, and you could always find him in front of the TV or radio when they were playing. More than anything, he loved his family deeply and always supported his children's efforts and achievements. His sister, Mary G. Primeaux, was his closest friend until her death-passing away on her first heavenly birthday. Jug instilled in his children lessons of perseverance, kindness, honesty, and goodwill. He prided himself on providing for his children the best he could. His daughters will forever remember him as a loving father who wanted nothing more than to see them be happy and reach their dreams. He is survived by his daughters, Kayla Kountz and Leah Rae Primeaux, his grandson Charles Kountz Ill, his nieces Carmen Khan and Rachel Farmer, his great- nephews Brayden Smith and Ethan Smith, and his best friend Johnny Waguespack. He was preceded in death by his great- grandmother, Margaret Guidry, whom he affectionately called Mámá; his parents, Ophey Primeaux and Mary Lou Primeaux; his sister, Mary Primeaux; his son, Justin Elijah Primeaux; and many other beloved friends and family. A private remembrance will be held for those closest to him. Jug never had the opportunity to publish his own book during his lifetime, though he dreamed of publishing one. He was also extremely proud of his daughter, Leah's, passion for poetry and storytelling. With this in mind, if you would like to pay your respects, we encourage donations to Shout Mouse Press, a nonprofit that amplifies underheard youth voices in writing. Grief is the cost of having loved deeply, and to know Jug was to love him. Though those who remain may be few, the joy, love, and kindness he showed will continue to live on through all those whose spirits he touched. The world is a better place for having had him in it, and he will be deeply missed.
