Henry Thomas Sr.

Henry Thomas, Sr., passed away on January 13, 2026, in New Iberia, Louisiana. Henry was a humble and quiet man who was deeply devoted to his family. He lived a life marked by simplicity, kindness, and a strong sense of love for those closest to him. Though soft-spoken, his presence brought comfort, and his legacy of family and faith will continue for generations.

“The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.”— Psalm 90:10

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Shirley Thomas; his son, Henry Thomas, Jr.; and his daughter, Rose Bowers.He is also survived by his brothers, Johnny Thomas and Hilbert Mitchell; his sisters, Mary Ann Mitchell and Cora Mitchell; and his children, Bridget Jenkins and husband Kevin, Margo Thomas, and Yolanda Thomas. Henry is further survived by his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Irma Thomas; his son, Roy James Thomas; his brother, Roy Thomas; his sisters, Joyce Thomas and Helen Thomas; and his parents, Henry “Mann” Thomas and Elsie Mitchell. 

Henry will be fondly remembered for his quiet strength, gentle spirit, and unwavering love for his family.
