“The HOT Hot Raggie with Herbert J” Lafayette - Herbert Jasman, age 77, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2025 at his home. Born in Lafayette, Louisiana on September 18, 1947, Herbert brought joy and energy to every life he touched — whether through his deep love for music, his unforgettable voice on the airwaves, or the laughter he shared with family and friends. A beloved radio personality, Herbert was best known as the “HOT Hot Raggie with Herbert J” on KIEE 88.3 FM. His passion for music and natural charisma made him a local legend. He prided himself on connecting with his audience and spreading happiness through the songs he selected and the stories he told. His voice was more than just a sound on the radio — it was a comfort, a celebration, and a bridge between people and cultures. Herbert is survived by his daughters: Tranita Lynn Jasman of Lafayette, LA; Pamona Renee Aker and husband Robert of Villa Rica, GA; Tonya Denise Jasman of Lafayette; Amanda Jones; and a beloved bonus daughter, Chermaine Vallier Yanez of Houston, TX. He is also survived by his son David Jones; a host of cherished granddaughters and grandsons; great-granddaughters and great-grandsons; his brother John Freeman Jr. and wife Viola; nieces Alicia Price Fowler, DeAundra Price Depranine (husband Eric); and many treasured extended family members and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Alma Scott; his sister, Emma Jasman Price; his paternal and maternal grandparents; his granddaughter, Brittney La'Sha Jasman; and his great-grandson, Devyn Zeno. Herbert’s legacy is one of love, laughter, rhythm, and soul. He lived life loud, proud, and full of heart — and he will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him or tuning in to hear him on the radio. His spirit will forever echo in the music he loved and the lives he touched.
