Lafayette, LA- Ivy Mae Abraham Stutes, age 80, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2025, at Lady of the Oaks Retirement Center in Lafayette, LA. Her Memorial and Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025, from 10 AM to 12 PM at Colligan Crematory & Funeral Services in Broussard, LA. A rosary will be recited at 11:15 AM. Burial will take place later in a private family ceremony. Ivy was born on August 27, 1944, in Church Point, LA, and passed away in Lafayette, LA. She had a remarkable 54-year career in sales, beginning with The Daily Advertiser Newspaper, followed by a role as an Area Sales Executive with American Greeting Cards, and concluding with the J. S. Paluch Church Bulletin Company. Ivy's gift for cultivating professional relationships and her passion for her work brought her great satisfaction throughout her career. Beyond her professional life, Ivy cherished the time spent with her son and family. She had a love for antique glassware and spent many pleasing hours shopping for and collecting unique items that became an impressive part of her collection. Ivy’s survived by her son, Bryan David Stutes; former spouse, Malcolm Stutes; her sister, Geneva Abraham and partner Leon Miller; three brothers, Rodney Abraham, Terry Abraham and wife Shelley, and Douglas Abraham and husband Robert Boatwright. She is also survived by a host of cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cornelius Abraham and Doris McGuire Abraham; her maternal grandparents, Paul McGuire and Edna McGuire Duplechain; and her paternal grandparents, Thomas Abraham and Mary Leger Abraham. The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff at Lady of the Oaks Retirement Center for their loving care of Ivy during her final years. Special gratitude to Dr. William Roth of Southern Urology and Dr. Leslie Greco of Ochsner Lafayette Wound Care Center for their exceptional care. Ivy’s memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her. May her memory be a blessing.
