Abbeville – Jack C. LaPoint Jr. age 83 passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at his residence surrounded by his loving wife and family. The family is holding a private Memorial Ceremony at a later date. Jack proudly served his country for Twenty-one years in the US Army where he served two tours of duty in the Korean War and one tour in the Vietnam War before retiring from Fort Hood Army Base in Texas. During his time of service, Jack traveled the world and was awarded many medals of honor including the National Defense Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Silver Service Star, 3 Bronze Service Stars, and Expert Riffle. After retiring from the Army, Jack went to work as a diesel mechanic for Bell County in Texas where he retired 30 years later. In his later years he worked for Acadian Shell and Vermillion Parish School Board as a bus monitor. Jack loved life, his family and sports. He would watch or participate in anything that had a ball. From football to volleyball to golf, Jack loved it all. He is survived by his wife Nicey LaPoint, children; Alfred LaPoint and wife Monica of Houston Texas, Raymond LaPoint of California, Ronald Sinegal, Deron Sinegal and wife Sashia, Ryan Sinegal, Danielle Sinegal, Ladaniel Sinegal Cormier and husband Spencer. Siblings; Kay Wilson, Danny LaPoint and wife Barbara, Ronald LaPoint along with twenty-seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren and his beloved pets “tater tot and GiGi”. Jack is preceded In death by his parents Jack LaPoint Sr. and Lois Perry, adopted parents Ella and Clarence Parish, daughter Tiffany Sinegal, sisters Betty Amos and Julia Thompson and one great grandchild. The family would like to give a very special “Thank You” to Joseph Joiner his caretaker for his continue support of Jack.
