Breaux Bridge - James Bruce Murchison, age 75, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2025. Born in Lafayette, Louisiana, James was a proud veteran who honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. His commitment to service and his country remained a defining aspect of his character throughout his life. James was a graduate of Lafayette High School and the University of New Orleans, where he cultivated his love for the city’s rich culture and history. He went on to become a longtime waiter and bartender in the renowned French Quarter of New Orleans, where he made countless friends and touched the lives of many with his kind heart and warm smile. His years in the historic French Quarter were a testament to his passion for hospitality and his deep connection to the vibrant spirit of New Orleans. James was a loving father to his son, Ian Murchison of Lafayette, and a devoted brother to Mark Murchison of Mandeville. He is also survived by numerous extended family members, friends, and colleagues who will all miss him dearly. James will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
