Janet Howell

Lafayette – Janet R. Howell, age 74 passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at her home surrounded by her husband and family. Jan was born in West Monroe, La. on November 8, 1949. She graduated from West Monroe High School in 1967. Jan then married Victor Howell on June 12, 1978. Jan is survived by her husband of 45 years Victor, her son, Benjamin Justin Howell and his wife Christy, stepson, Matthew Howell, granddaughters; Gillian Howell Santos and husband Jubille of San Jose, California, Emily Howell of League City, Texas, Logan Elizabeth Howell of Lafayette and brother, Glenn Ray and wife Nancy of Albany, Georgia. She is preceded in death by her parents, Violet Wassan Ray and Asa Lee Ray, stepson Matthew Howell, whom she loved as if he was her own, and granddaughter Alexis Howell. Jan was a computer programmer in her earlier years. In 1999 she and Vic became part of an employee-owned company, Peregrine Corporation. Jan wore many “hats” in the business. She had a great sense of organization and was very competent in finances. Jan was a wonderful wife, companion and friend. She was one of the most caring, kind and loving persons ever known. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother who loved her family ferociously and prayed without ceasing. She was very generous, always trying to ensure her family didn’t want for anything. Jan loved the lord with all her heart. She was obedient to what the Lord would have her do. Jan was the glue that held her family together. Her light shined so bright it radiated from her to everyone around her. The love of the father was In her heart, and she passed that down to all. This isn’t goodbye. We will see you again in heaven A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Our Savior’s Church in Broussard, La. Visitation is at 1:00 Pm with services at 2:00 PM
