He married his wife, Carolyn, in 1974. They shared over 50 years together. Their love and devotion to each other was limitless. Carolyn was his main caregiver for the last several years during his failing health and was by his side to the end. He devoted over 35 years working for major oil companies and lived in Baldwin, Franklin, and Lafayette during those years. In addition, he had his own oil service company. He took pride in his job and enjoyed the people he worked with. As an avid outdoorsman, Jerry loved spending time at his hunting and fishing camps throughout his life. He loved duck hunting, camping, fishing, crabbing, throwing the cast net, and running jug lines. He especially enjoyed cleaning and cooking what he caught to share with friends and family, as he would say “living off the land”. He also spent a lot of time in the boat teaching his kids to ski and hydroslide which has left great memories for his wife and children. Jerry also invested a lot of time and passion towards sports. As a coach for his children and even his great-grandchild, he strived to instill hard work, sportsmanship, and fun to the kids he coached. He watched and attended many sporting events with friends and family anywhere from T-Ball to the Super Bowl. He had a passion for music, especially “Swamp Pop”.
