Opelousas - Joseph "Rogers" LaGrange age 84, a beloved father and devoted antique car enthusiast, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2024, while a resident at Prompt Succor Nursing Home. Born on October 28, 1939, in St. Landry Parish to Clement and Azelema LaGrange, Rogers lived a life full of passion and love for his family and hobbies. Rogers graduated from Grand Prairie High School in 1957 and soon after relocated to New Orleans, where he began a distinguished career in the food hospitality services industry. His career spanned several restaurants across the city, culminating in a well-earned retirement. A man of great pride and enthusiasm, Rogers was particularly known for his love of motorcycles and antique cars. His daily attire often featured a "Cruising The Coast" t-shirt, and his living spaces were adorned with photos and posters celebrating the vintage car era. Rogers also delighted in sharing stories about his antique car collection and cherished his family, always eager to talk about his children and grandchildren. Rogers is survived by his former wife Carol of Ville Platte, his son Joshua LaGrange and his wife Valeri Ray, his daughter Michelle and son-in-law Chad Wehrlin, as well as his grandson Korey and granddaughter Bailey. He was preceded in death by his daughter Toni LaGrange, his sister Irene Marie Soileau, and his infant sister Georgia LaGrange. A service to honor Rogers’ life will be held on September 28, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. in the Mausoleum at Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Cemetery in Cecilia, La. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Louisiana Hospice & Palliative Care and Prompt Succor Nursing Home of Opelousas for their compassionate care during Rogers' final days.
