Julie Newland Varnado - Baton Rouge age 47 August 5, 1976 - February 12, 2024 Julie was born in Greenville, Mississippi to the late David & Frances Varnado. She grew up with a love for horses, working in the barn and competing in shows every chance she had. At 13 years old Julie placed 14th in the world’s western pleasure competition in Tulsa, Oklahoma on her horse Shy As A Fox. Julie passed down her love of horses directly to her daughter. At only 6 months Julie rode Lauren on their gray gelding named Grayford. Before she passed, Julie was asked to tell one of her favorite memories and it was the Dixie National Quarter Horse show held yearly in Jackson, Mississippi. It was a special day Julie always shared with her father. Julie is preceded in death by her parents, David and Frances Varnado. Both sets of grandparents; Three uncles; Kenneth Young, Donald Young, and Dennie Young. Along with one nephew Willow Mckeel and one cousin Justin Young. She is survived by her daughter Lauren Cormier of Mire, Louisiana and one son. Three brothers; David Varnado Jr. of Los Angeles, California. James and wife Jessica Varnado of Orlando, Florida and their children Kaitlyn, Aiden, Everly and Henry Varnado. David Myers of Duck Hill, Mississippi. One sister, Cheryl Mckeel and children Saige, Hope, and Story Mckeel. Her niece Adrienne Myers along with her two children; Greyson Huffman and Layla Scallion of Vardaman, Mississippi. One uncle, Jim Varnado of North Carolina. And various family and friends scattered across the country.
