Lafayette - Karen M. Damond, a devoted mother, cherished daughter, beloved sister, and dear friend, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2024, at the age of 58. Born on November 7, 1966, in Lafayette, Karen’s life was a testament to love, resilience, and grace. Surrounded by her loved ones in her final moments, her quiet and gentle spirit left a lasting mark on all who knew her. Karen’s greatest joy in life was her family. She is survived by her loving parents, Dorothy and Elmo Breaux Jr.; her three daughters, Kayla Damond, Kaysha Damond, and Kayonnie Damond; and her three adored grandchildren, Kaiden, Amazynn, and Azuree. She is also survived by her 2 sisters and a brother she gained by marriage of Lafayette, LA: Shawannah Damond, LaToya Batiste & her husband Harold Batiste, 3 siblings: Erica R. Joseph Castex (Marvin), Chanda Joseph, and Marcus Joseph of Texas, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and lifelong friends who will forever treasure her memory. Karen was preceded in death by her father, Shelton B. Joseph; her grandmother, Verlie Cyprien Damond; her grandfather, Wilfred Damond Sr and a host of aunts and uncles. Her unwavering love and kindness touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Though her passing leaves a deep void, her legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire those she leaves behind. A memorial service celebrating Karen’s life will be held at Spirit of Liberty Christian Fellowship, 2841 Louisiana Ave, Lafayette, LA 70501, on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. Karen will be remembered for the quiet strength she carried, the love she poured into her family, and the gentle spirit that will forever live in our hearts.
