She was a remarkable swimmer and the first person to qualify in both the 200-meter and 500-meter freestyle events at the Louisiana State Swim Meet, a testament to her dedication, talent, and determination. Beyond her athletic achievements, Katryna was a passionate advocate for animals. She was a founding board member of the West Feliciana Animal Humane Society Shelter and dedicated much of her time to caring for animals in need. Katryna owned and operated Katryna's Critter Care, providing loving pet-sitting services, and worked at the St. Francisville Animal Hospital, Baton Rouge Zoo, and Blue Zoo of Baton Rouge, where her deep love for animals was evident in everything she did. Her love for her community extended to her work as a certified lifeguard and swim instructor at the YMCA, where she shared her passion for swimming and ensured countless children learned life-saving skills. Katryna was known for her joyful spirit and her enthusiasm for life. She had a soft spot for Disney, unicorns, teddy bears, LSU sports, Baton Rouge Hockey, and fishing, embracing all the things that brought her happiness and joy. Katryna is survived by her loving parents, Frank and Meleia McLean, her devoted sister, Kathrin Ann McLean, and her cherished grandparents, Morris L. and Jacquelline Mauldin. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, and her legacy of kindness, compassion, and love for animals will live on in the many lives she touched. A celebration of Katryna's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to the West Feliciana Animal Humane Society Shelter, an organization close to her heart. Rest in peace, Katryna. You will be missed, but never forgotten. Your love, light, and compassion will continue to inspire all who knew you.
