Kenneth Anthony Delahoussaye

October 18, 1955 — June 27, 2025

New Iberia – Kenneth Delahoussaye, with deep sadness, we announce the passing of Kenneth Anthony Delahoussaye, lovingly known as “Kennit” to many, who passed away on June 27, 2025, at the age of 69. Born and raised in New Iberia, Louisiana, Kenneth was the beloved eldest son of the late Vernick J. Delahoussaye and Vernice Migues Delahoussaye. He was a proud graduate of New Iberia Senior High (NISH), Class of 1973. Kenneth began his career working offshore on an oil rig, where he faced a life-changing moment when one of the rig’s legs began to give way. As the rig started to sink, he and the crew were fortunate to be rescued by a nearby work boat. That harrowing experience marked the end of his offshore career. He later learned the trade of welding from his Uncle Will—a skill that served him well—but his true joy was found outdoors. Kenneth had a deep love for hunting, fishing, and being on the water. He generously shared the bounty of his outdoor adventures—fish, crawfish, crabs, and deer meat—with his family and friends. He spent countless peaceful hours at the family camp on the Charenton levee, even calling it home for a time. Later in life, after undergoing a quadruple heart bypass, Kenneth returned to New Iberia to focus on his health. Slowing down allowed him to fully embrace life’s simple joys and become the loving, dependable parrain and uncle his family cherished. Though Kenneth lived a quiet and private life, those who knew him truly loved him. His calm spirit, generous heart, and love for family and the outdoors touched many lives. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. Kenneth is survived by his sisters, Darlene and Gail Delahoussaye; his brother, Keith Delahoussaye and wife Jeanne; his nieces, Genee’ B. Romero, Monique Babineaux, Britni LeBlanc and husband Shane, and Tori Delahoussaye; his nephews, Jobe, Jake, and Jared Delahoussaye; great-nieces, Baylee Romero, Aubree Derouen, Bianca, and Emery; and great-nephew, Logan LeBlanc. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Kurt Delahoussaye, and his grandparents. Kenneth will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. The family would like to extend a special thanks to his cousin, J.C. “Boy” Delahoussaye, for recently repairing the transmission on his truck. They would also like to acknowledge two of his lifelong friends, Mr. Brian Stansbury and Keith Guidry, who always stayed in touch and remained a constant presence in his life.
