Larry B. Calhoon

Lafayette - Larry B. Calhoon, age 76 peacefully passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at The Hospice of Acadiana's Calcutta House in Lafayette, with his wife and daughter at his side. Larry is survived by his loving wife of almost 60 years, Edean Calhoon, children; Patrick Calhoon of Las Vegas, Nevada, Kristinna Calhoon-Rosette and her husband Alton of Beaumont, Texas, grandchildren, Elizabeth, Scottie, Tatein, and great grandchild Antonio. A celebration of Life will be held on December 14, 2023, in the Colligan Crematory and Funeral Services chapel in Broussard, Louisiana. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM with services at 11:00 and an Honor Guard Presentation at 11:30. Larry and his family moved here from Las Cruces, New Mexico where he worked with NASA in the Space Program and was involved in several Space Shuttle launches. He also worked at Los Alamos and Sandia Laboratories. He volunteered for many years as an EMT in Search and Rescue, a CPR Instructor, and a Cub Scout leader. He was a resident of Lafayette for 28 years when he retired from the United States Postal Service. Larry proudly served his country in the United States Army traveling the world and serving two tours in the Vietnam War. Larry lived life to the fullest and will be dearly missed.
