Louis Mitchell “Mitch” Duhon, Jr., of Broussard, Louisiana, passed away on March 30, 2026 at Calcutta House (Hospice of Acadiana). https://www.colligancrematoryfuneralservices.com He will be deeply missed by his life partner of 38 years, Mitchell Todd Rivière of Lawtell, Louisiana; [surviving siblings include Sybil D. Breaux; Joan D Smith; and Dennis Duhon]; and his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Mitch was preceded in death by: E.T. Duhon, grandfather; Jeanne Ste Marie Duhon, grandmother; Louis Mitchell Duhon, Sr., father; Aline Bernard Duhon, mother; and Louisette Duhon aunt/nannie. Born in Port Sulphur, Louisiana and raised in Broussard, Mitch carried a lifelong love for his hometown and community. He proudly built his life there alongside Todd, creating a home filled with warmth, laughter, and connection. Mitch graduated from Ovey Comeaux High School in Lafayette in 1971 before serving his country in the Army National Guard of Louisiana PV2, Medic. Following his service, he managed Eckerd Drugs in Lafayette and later worked with the credit bureau. Next career path was co-owner Medical Adjustment Bureau (a collection agency) for much of his early adulthood. The next chapter that brought Mitch the greatest joy was his time as owner of Campus Copies, which he operated for over 25 years (1988–2013) on the USL/UL Lafayette campus, alongside his partner Todd and Todd’s sister Alison Bernard. Mitch turned the business into more than just a workplace; it became a community. There, he shared his passion for cooking, preparing home-cooked Cajun meals as well as Papa D burgers. The atmosphere and food brought together students, faculty, employees, and friends. Many who walked through those doors became regulars, and many regulars became family. Mitch was known for hosting unforgettable gatherings, whether at Campus Copies (Mardi Gras) or in his home, where good food, laughter, and genuine hospitality were always in abundance. His gift for bringing people together at pool parties with lush oasis feel featuring Mitch/Todd plants/flowers and statuary or Halloween with full blown costume, left lasting memories for all who knew him. After Campus Copies, Mitch and Todd opened a drive through burger/plate lunch stand in Broussard and ran it until retirement. He also enjoyed collecting classic cars and antiques, appreciating the history behind each piece. Mitch lived a full and adventurous life, marked by generosity, understanding, and acceptance. He leaves behind not only those who loved him, but a legacy of authenticity that will continue to live on in the hearts of many. May God grant Mitch the same grace and warmth that he so freely gave to others. REST in PEACE.
