In Loving Memory of Margaret Ethel Savoy Gallet Margaret Ethel Savoy Gallet, age 67, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 14, 2025. Born in Dublin, Ireland, Margaret was adopted at the age of 3 by her loving parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Paul Savoy. A longtime resident of Lafayette, Louisiana, Margaret attended Our Lady of Fatima Primary School, Plantation Elementary, and graduated from Ovey Comeaux High School in 1977. She went on to work for 17 years at the Lafayette Parish School Board office before retiring. Margaret found joy in the simple pleasures of life—cherishing lifelong friendships that began in grade school, tending to her garden, and fishing. She loved sharing the fruits of her labor with neighbors, the elderly, family, and friends. Her beloved dogs, Frankie and Rosie, were constant companions and sources of happiness. Her birthday was always a special occasion, filled with the love and attention she treasured. Margaret was also the proud owner of Little Ethel’s Pecan Cracking Service, through which she generously served the community, often delivering freshly cracked pecans to the Carmelite Monastery. She was preceded in death by her brother, William “Bill” Savoy, and her parents, Ethel Dauterive Savoy and Ellis Paul Savoy. Margaret will be remembered for her generous heart, sharp wit, and as an “unfiltered free-spirit” who left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Visitation will be Thursday, June 12, 2025 at the church hall from 12:00-1:15 PM followed by a funeral mass at 1:30 PM at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 204 N. Main Street Breaux Bridge, LA 70517. The family has requested a private burial. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Carmelite Monastery, 1250 Carmel Dr., Lafayette, LA 70501.
