Mary Lou Menard

Lafayette - Mary Lou Menard, age 57, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2025, at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center, surrounded by the love of her family. Mary Lou was known for her fun-loving and outgoing personality, a spirit that lit up every room she entered. She had a passion for collecting treasures, each piece holding a special story, but her greatest joy in life was her beloved daughter, Bettie Joe. The bond they shared was unshakable and full of unconditional love. She is survived by her daughter, Bettie Joe Menard; her brothers, Leo Meaux, Rudy Milligan and wife Katie, and Shawn Vantassel; her sisters, Dana Doucet and husband Heath, Acacia Scheck and husband Julius, Ria Poirier and her late husband Brian, and Heather Croft; along with numerous cherished nieces and nephews. Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Menard and Betty Meaux, and her brother Joshua Vantassel and sister Elvera Vantassel. Her life will be remembered for the laughter she inspired, the warmth she gave, and the love she shared so freely. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
