Lafayette - Orlie Joe Wenzel, age 82, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2025, at the Calcutta House in Lafayette, Louisiana, surrounded by the love and prayers of family. A devoted father, brother, and grandfather, Orlie's life was marked by resilience, kindness, and a deep commitment to those he loved. He is survived by his children, Bobby Wenzel, RJ Wenzel, and Sherri Wenzel; his siblings, Charlie Wenzel, Sam Wenzel, Barbara Hayden, and Linda Howard; 11 cherished grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren who brought him endless joy and pride. Orlie's presence was steady and strong — a quiet but profound source of love and support to his family and friends. His stories, wisdom, and warm-hearted nature will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who had the privilege to know him. A private memorial service will be held at a later date to honor his life and legacy. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Calcutta House for their compassionate care during his final days.
