Delcambre - Robert William Coleman was born in Atchison, Kansas, on August 30, 1941, and entered eternal rest on Tuesday, June 10th, 2025. He was 83 years old. Bob was born to Robert and Verona “Grace” Coleman. He attended Atchison High School, graduating in 1959. Bob furthered his education at Northwest Missouri State University, where he majored in Architectural Engineering. He was a design engineer at ARA Air Conditioning, but his true passion was for fast cars. He started racing B-Experimental dragsters, then A-Gas dragsters, later transitioning to Pro-Stock. He drove for Mopar, Joe Edge Racing, THT Racing, among numerous others. Between 1971 and 1973, he won many AHRA and NHRA Championships. Top Gas NHRA Division Champion (’71), WCS Pennzoil Division Champion, and NHRA Pro Stock Division Drag Racing Championship (’73), to name a few. He raced under the name “Bullet” Bob Coleman. His racing days still live on every time one of his grandchildren wears one of the many shirts he had made for them over the years from old screen prints. From racing, Bob partnered with an old racing connection and ventured into chemical sales, where he spent most of the rest of his working days until retirement age. He met Sandy in 1978 while at work, and by 1983, they had settled in Fountain Hills, Arizona, to welcome their first daughter, Janie. Anne-Claire quickly followed 17 months later in 1984, and in 1987, they welcomed their last baby, Nicole. Bob’s girls became his whole world, and he devoted his life to whatever they were involved in. Wherever the girls went, he wasn’t far behind, sporting events, across the country relocations, there was truly no distance too far that Bob wouldn’t go for Sandy or his girls. In 1997, Bob and the girls moved to Texas, to Florida in 2003, and back to Sandy’s hometown in Louisiana in 2011. For the past 16 years, Bob has been heavily involved with his 6 grandchildren right up until his final days, somehow ensuring they made it through final exams, and soccer tryouts before any interruptions that could potentially affect the outcomes of the two things he was most involved in with them; their education and their sports. Bob was one of a kind, and he will be intensely missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He never met a stranger, could talk to you about anything, and had a story for everything. His love and passion for a good conversation never withered. Bob was preceded in death by his mother, Verona (Grace) Coleman, his father, Robert Alden Coleman, his Father-In-Law, Carroll Joseph Thibodeaux, his Mother-In-Law, Betty Leblanc Thibodeaux, and his Brother-In-Law, Tim Thibodeaux. Bob is survived by his life partner, Sandra Thibodeaux. Daughters Janie Blank (Dale), Anne-Claire Coleman (Meagan), and Nicole Coleman. His grandchildren, Kenlie Coleman, Canyon and Caroline Blank, Corbin Braun, Canyon Coleman, and Knox Gonsoulin. His sister, Barbara Dudley. His nephew Joel Crossland (Heather), and niece, Samantha Dudley, as well as his great nephews, Ethan and Brendan Crossland, and great niece, Taylor Journey. Bob’s final resting place will be at the Memorial Garden and Columbarium at The Fountains, A United Methodist Church in Fountain Hills, Arizona. Matthew 5:4 “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him may not perish but have eternal life.”
