Rufus Day Jr.

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Rufus Day, Jr., who departed this life on Friday, July 24, 2026, at his residence in New Iberia, Louisiana, surrounded by his loving family and friends.

Rufus will be remembered for his kind heart, unwavering love for his family, and the lasting impact he made on the lives of those who knew him. He cherished the time spent with his loved ones and leaves behind many treasured memories that will forever be held close.

He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Rosa Dixon Day; his father, Rufus Day, Sr.; his stepfather, Clearance Jones; his aunt, Louise Williams; his uncles, Melton Williams, Larry Day, and Roy Thomas Williams.

Those left to cherish his memory include his significant other, Adriene Lee; his sister, Shirly D. Thomas; and his nieces and nephews: Carman Day, Henry Thomas, Jr., Ellamarie Day, Rose Thomas, Bridget Jenkins (Kevin), Margo Thomas, Yolanda Thomas, Tasha Clark (Brian), Charelle Morgan (Mitchell Jr.), Lil Ray Jean Louisse, Billy Thomas (B.J.) (Kaylanie), Breanna Bowers, Chris Jamal Joseph, Jr., Alyssa Beverly (Jeremy), Kaclin Thomas, Katilyn Thomas, Kalen Thomas, and Katera Jenkins.

He also leaves to cherish his memory his great-nieces and great-nephews: Omri Morgan, Onyx Morgan, Braydon Smith, Olivia Clark, Richen, Mason, Kiayler, Kiasen, Cassidy, Brooklyn, Parker, C.T., Melani Thomas, Kai Jamas, and Nash Beverly, along with numerous extended family members, dear friends, and all whose lives he touched.

Though Rufus has departed from this earthly life, the love he shared and the memories he created will remain in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
