New Iberia - Sky Blue Thunder Heart Valenciano passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 22, 2025, in Iberville Parish at the age of 31. Though his journey on this earth was marked by personal battles, Sky’s light never failed to shine on those around him. With a heart full of compassion and a soul that radiated joy, he had a rare gift for making people smile—even on his darkest days. Sky found comfort and expression through his passions. He loved cooking, often bringing people together over a warm meal and laughter. He embraced life with a bold and vibrant spirit, reflected in his love of the colors blue, purple, and black. A true fan of the eerie and artistic, he especially enjoyed horror films—Tim Burton’s works being among his favorites. His soundtrack to life included screamo, pop punk, and rap, a mix as unique and electric as he was. He was fiercely loyal to those he loved. Family, both by blood and by bond, meant everything to him. Sky is survived by his loving parents, Timothy Merritt and Dalessa Roy; his cherished children, sons Axle Ostrom and Ryan Roy, and daughter Makiah Griffin. He leaves behind his brothers Michael Roy Steadman, Davontraye Johnson, James Murray, Devin Legendre, Andrew Leger, Chance Edging, and Jimi Thoune; and sisters Aleah Steadman, Angel Valenciano, Prism Toups, and Heaven Daigle. Sky also had deep connections with his cousins Blayde, Korianne, and Anthony, and proudly embraced his role as a godfather to Wyatt, Miyah, Onyx, Raelyn, Emmy, Hava, Bri, Vaeh, Nevaeh, Jasper, JJ, Willow, Addlyn, Karley, Trey, Kevin, Emarie and Laryssa. and all those whose lives he touched with his warmth, laughter, and unshakable spirit. Though gone too soon, Sky’s energy, authenticity, and radiant smile will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. Services are pending and will be announced by the family at a later date.
