Sylvia Whatley Grabert

St. Martinville - A memorial service will be held on Monday February 21, 2022 at 6:00 P.M. in First United Methodist Church of New Iberia to celebrate the life of Mrs. Sylvia Joan Grabert 82, of St. Martinville. The family will receive friends from 4:00 P.M. until the time of service at 6:00 P.M.at First United Methodist Church of New Iberia. Sylvia was born November 18, 1939 to James and Esther Whatley in Lake Providence La., she was the first child and matriarch of the family for numerous years. Sylvia was a very active member of First United Methodist Church of New Iberia and a woman of strong faith, that led her in all aspects of life. She loved flowers and gardening and was a member of the New Iberia Garden Club for many years. Sylvia was a educator at heart, teaching in New Iberia, St. Mary and Grammercy as a home economics, fourth grade teacher and Dietitian for the Iberia Parish School Board. She will be remembered for her chocolate chip cookies as well.
