Woodrow Joseph Denais

September 3, 1943 — April 4, 2025

Carencro - Woodrow Joseph Denais, born on September 3, 1943, in Maurice, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2025, at the age of 81. A devout Catholic, Woodrow was a dedicated member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church. He was a man of great strength—both in spirit and in body—having once been a proud Golden Gloves boxer and a lifelong pipeliner and member of the Local 692 for over 50 years. Outside the ring, Woodrow enjoyed life’s simple pleasures: fishing the bayous of Louisiana, swapping stories with his neighbors, and, most of all, spending time with his beloved grandchildren. Woodrow is survived by his loving children: sons Brian J. Denais and his wife Dea Albertson, Shane J. Denais and his wife Misty Denais, and daughter Julie Majors and her husband Kermit Leger, and two sisters: Gladys Latiolais and Laura Plaisance. He also leaves behind a cherished extended family with 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren who were the joy of his life. He is preceded in death by his parents, Martha Menard and Jeule Denais Sr.; his loving wife, Janice Denais; daughters Janice Foreman and Tammy Denais; and brothers Clarence Denais, Lurby Denais, and Jeule Denais Jr. Woodrow’s kindness, resilience, and deep love for his family and friends will be remembered by all who knew him. His legacy lives on in the stories shared and the memories cherished by those he touched. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, April 8 at 12:00PM in the chapel of Colligan Crematory & Funeral Services in Broussard. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Carencro, La. Deacon Cody Miller will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Ryan Arceneaux, Brian Denais, Shane Denais, Beau Lowe, Rocky Foreman, Blaine Denais, Jayden Denais, and Gannon Denais. Family request flowers can be sent to funeral home for the service.
