Kent Colligan
Owner / Funeral Director
Owner of Colligan Crematory and Funeral Services, Kent Colligan, is a native of Church Point Louisiana. He attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana where he studied business. Kent is a father of three daughters and one son. He is active in various local youth sports organizations. He has been a part of the Lafayette community for 12 years. Over the last 25 years he has owned and operated numerous successful businesses in the Agriculture and Oil and Gas sectors. Colligan is a proud member of the Broussard Chamber of Commerce.
Kent’s interest in the cremation and funeral service business grew out of the realization that more and more people are choosing non-traditional avenues to honor and memorialize their loved ones. Kent dove into research on the factors that have influenced this trend, such as the increase in life expectancy and the struggles of adult children having to care for aging parents. The declining economy and inflated prices of traditional funeral services commonly cause financial distress to many responsible for final arrangements of loved ones. The shift from somber occasions of final goodbyes to respectful lighter end of life celebrations have become more common place all over the country. After reviewing the facts, stats, testimonials, and projections, Kent kept returning to his primary motivation. He wants to be in this business to help people of this community, especially through this delicate time of life, when care, fairness, comfort, dignity, and compassion are most needed.
